The lockdown may have halted our daily work lives, but it surely hasn’t stopped us working professionals from channelizing our inner chefs to explore cooking and trying out new & unique recipes for our loved ones and ourselves. This new cooking streak is helping us battle our way through this pandemic, find peace within ourselves and helping us achieve a sense of accomplishment in these dark times.
Since the beginning of this lockdown, there have been exceptional culinary creations shared by everyone globally across social media platforms. There has also been a rise in professional Chefs globally taking up the digital routes through Live videos to help their fans and cooking enthusiasts with recipes of dishes that th could easily try at home. In many ways this quarantined period has got food enthusiasts of all ages together in creating some truly exceptional dishes that help us all stay home, stay safe and stay creative.
Today, we would like to share a few thoughts and experiences by some dear friends who are working professionals who usually work for long hours in their respective fields but have made the best of this lockdown in their very own positive and inspiring way.
Fatema Poonawala, Founder & Director at Travezy Global LLP
It’s incredible how we have not gone out for almost 2 months nor met anyone. Feels strange and overwhelmed at times staying confined at home.
Since we used work for long hours, we majorly had to depend on Swiggy and Zomato to deliver food to us. We never gave the time to ourselves to discover the love for the art of cooking the food now we are only craving for. To my surprise staying home is fun and the most relaxing time too to indulge in self-care and endless household chores. This Lockdown has surely taught me survival without a ‘Maid’ and rolling round chapatis. With the holy month of Ramdan, cooking delicacies for Iftar and enjoying with the entire family is a priceless experience. I have tried my hands on making Chicken Franky , Kichda , Beda Roti, Kachori Chat , Dhai wada and yummy Rose Falooda which turned out exactly like it is served at one of my favourite joints.
Kirti Panchal - Founder of Been There, Done That
I am lifestyle writer and travel blogger. With the Quarantine being an only option to adhere to, I have continued to work out six days a week that keeps me healthy & motivated. It could be an hour-long walk or climbing up the building stairs or a quick twenty minute HIIT workout! And through the day, I try to indulge in some soulful cooking by trying out new recipes, baking cakes and learning new kitchen hacks! I am surprised to have learnt that I am a really good cook! Thanks to the lovely phase of Quarantine.

During this lockdown we are all confined to our homes with few sources of entertainment. As a result I delved deeper into my love for cooking ( and eating). Though I have always enjoyed cooking and baking, I decided to try out some new recipes. The simple truth is anyone can cook and it’s really not that hard!
Tejashri Vaze - Customer Marketing, in one of the Multinational FMCG Firms, Mumbai
I work at an FMCG company and have a super occupied work schedule throughout this time. And because people are relying on us more than ever for their daily household needs it’s a time filled with pressure. To unplug from work I’ve set time aside to cook. I haven’t cooked for years together now that I don’t even remember how long has it been. The process of cooking doesn’t create anxiety but it does encourage focus and creativity. I feel it can be therapeutic at times.
Anisha Thakker, Owner , V/Desi by Anisha (Clothing Line)
I’ve always had a thing for baking and experimenting new things when it comes to cooking. But i could never do the regular dal rice and sabzii🙈
This lockdown has been just the perfect opportunity for me to experiment all kinds of varieties, be it Gujrati , Mexican, punjabi, dimsums, street food or Italian cusines and right from Burgers to ice Creams. I’ve tried the Healthiest and the not-so-healthy recipes. Cooking/ baking has had therapeutic effect for me amidst the lockdown period.
